The Art of Pouring Guinness at The Hatter

Pouring a perfect pint of Guinness is an art form, and at The Hatter Irish Pub, we take this craft seriously. Known for its distinctive taste and creamy head, Guinness is one of Ireland’s most iconic drinks, and achieving the ideal pour requires skill, patience, and tradition. At The Hatter, we’re proud to bring you a perfectly crafted pint, just as it would be served in Ireland.

A Guinness Experience Like No Other

Pouring Guinness isn’t just filling a glass; it’s a ritual. Each Guinness pint at The Hatter is carefully poured using the traditional two-step method, ensuring it reaches its signature look and taste. We use a specialized ‘surger’ to enhance the creamy texture and bring out the rich flavor, making each pint a true work of art.

The Two-Step Pouring Method

The two-step pour is essential for any Guinness to settle correctly. First, the glass is tilted at a 45-degree angle, filling it three-quarters of the way. After allowing it to settle for exactly 119.5 seconds, we finish with a straight pour to complete the iconic creamy head. This method may take time, but we believe it’s worth every second to deliver the best Guinness experience in Malta.

Why Quality Matters

For our team at The Hatter, serving Guinness isn’t just about the drink itself; it’s about sharing a piece of Irish tradition. Our staff is trained to pour each pint with care, ensuring that every Guinness served at The Hatter reflects the quality and tradition of Ireland’s favorite stout. It’s all part of the authentic Irish experience we strive to offer every visitor.
