Trivia Nights at The Hatter
The long-enjoyed pub quiz is a staple of pub culture at large. Some of the best moments can be had over a tricky set of general knowledge and a delicious pint of beer with your mates.
The first mention of a pub quiz-style game dates back to 1959, but it was first popularised in 1970s Britain. This was largely due to the duo of Burns and Porter who founded and organised 32 pub quiz teams in three leagues in southern England.
Next, the pub quiz made its way to Ireland. Embedding itself in the similar yet distinct pub culture prevalent on the other side of the Irish sea. From here it was exported along with many other of the very best Irish pub traditions.

At the Hatter we pride ourselves on our Wednesday night offering of a top-notch Trivia Night.
The structure
Usually spanning 6 rounds and one music identification round. The Hatter brings several either one-time or recurring quiz masters to test its patrons’ knowledge each week. This brings a terrific variety to the questions asked along with a notably dynamic atmosphere.
The atmosphere
As both a wonderland-themed and typically Irish Pub, the Hatter welcomes not only plenty of tourists but also many returning regulars.
This makes the Hatter a great spot with a dynamic and friendly vibe that perfectly suits the Trivia Night along with all the other recurring weekly events on offer.
The prizes
Of course, we take great pride in the prices of all our offerings, we still understand that its awesome to get something for nothing. Hence the Trivia Night prizes bring the winners something approximately themed.
A massive quiz trophy with the winner’s drink of choice is offered up to the team with the most points, but that’s not all. Choosing a great team name could get a round of shots on your table, with the best name chosen by our esteemed bartenders.
Malta Food Bank Foundation
The Trivia Night is free entrance as it is in aid of the Malta Food Bank located in Hamrun. We’re giving what we can to this cause with our BCRS returns making it in donations. However, you can also donate yourself during the quiz by filling the quiz trophy with any spare change.
How to join
To join in the Trivia Night, simply send us a message on Instagram or make a call during opening hours to book a table, specifying how many will be attending from your team. Happy quizzing!
